Professor Patrick Alexander, Founder
Patrick has over 20 years of experience working in education. He is Professor of Education and Anthropology at Oxford Brookes University, where he also serves as Research Lead for Education. His research expertise focuses on the future innovation of schools, and he has literally written the book on what the future of schooling looks like: School’s Out Forever, to be published by Bloomsbury in 2026.
A trained secondary teacher, Patrick is a former IB Chief Examiner and a senior advisor to both the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Commonwealth Education Trust. He delivers professional learning masterclasses in international schools around the world.
For the past 15 years, Patrick has worked at the University of Oxford as a lecturer in social anthropology and admissions tutor. At Education in Common, he leads on research and innovation, as well as university and other post-18 pathways.
